SAINSBURY'S has sold its Bolton town centre site in Flash Street to The Rank Group, which plans to change it into a casino and bingo hall.
Rank is set to create a Mecca Bingo hall and Grosvenor Casino inside the building in a move that would generate 85 jobs.
But residents have complained about the project, saying it would create noise and nuisance. The casino would remain open until 6am.
Sainsbury's relocated to a new 50,000 sq ft Savacentre on Crook Street, leaving the old supermarket vacant.
