YOU may be aware of Bridgeman Park, a small area at the top of Bromwich Street, Bolton, facing Bradford Street and adjacent to the A666.
There is, though, a group called "Friends of Bridgeman Park", and member Madeleine Scott tells me that the park is 110 years old next year, and like anyone that age, is looking very tired!
She writes: "We have applied for a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore the gates and fencing which were taken as part of the war effort. Part of the original fencing is still in situ, so that can be copied. However, the heritage people, quite rightly, will only give money to return it to its exact original state, but we cannot find any pictures of how the gates were. We have tried archives, libraries and other stories, but with no success."
Can anyone help? Does anyone have such a photograph which the group can copy and return? Or any further idea where the group can look to find this evidence?
