WIGAN boss Paul Jewell is desperate for a big step up in performance on Tuesday night.
Latics hauled themselves away from the foot of the Division One table with a 2-0 win at Burnley on Saturday.
But Jewell was far from delighted with the display and knows a major improvement will be needed against Ipswich.
"We showed resilience and got a clean sheet but I was not particularly happy with the performance," he said.
"I actually thought we played poorly and too many crosses were allowed into our box.
"Even the players were disappointed with the way we played. I want us to be better than that against Ipswich." Striker Lee McCulloch is struggling with a hamstring problem, while left back Steve McMillan needed stitches after suffering a blow to the head.
But Ipswich -- one of the hot favourites for promotion this year -- have made a poor start to the campaign, with only two draws to their name.
