JON Latham is preparing to take to the hills to raise money for the Children's Hospital Appeal Trust.
Jon, who works for Bolton-based firm BI'K, will compete against 300 experienced cyclists in the Three Peak Cyclo-X challenge on September 28.
Jon is collecting sponsors for the gruelling race which will see him climb the three peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Gent, taking on a 5000ft ascent.
He is hoping to complete the 38-mile trek in three-and-a-half hours.
Despite facing a hectic training schedule between now and the race, Jon says he is delighted to be raising money for the charity.
He said: "Without the support of my wife and children I would not be able to put in the 12 hours per week training needed to compete in this strenuous race.
"It is a pleasure to be raising funds for the Children's Hospitals Appeal Trust while doing something I enjoy."
