WHEN the Stroud-Mort family got a postcard from someone called Bunnykins in Cyprus, they thought someone had got the wrong address.

But when four more arrived from all around America they realised the "sender" was one of their garden ornament, who had gone missing.

It seems the little brown rabbit which once sat among the flowers and plants in their front garden in Darwen Road, Bromley Cross, had decided the time was right for a bit of sightseeing.

Bunnykins has so far "visited" Cyprus, New York, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and Hollywood.

His adventures have tickled Jean, husband Les and children Abigail, aged nine, 16-year-old Katrina and 21-year-old John-Paul.

Their colourful garden attracts many admirers, making it even harder for Jean to guess who has taken Bunnykins.

Jean said: "It's been absolutely brilliant. We've had postcards from all over the world but can't think of anyone who is travelling the world. They have really kept us amused. I bet the postman's had a good laugh delivering our mail anyway.

"It was weeks before we realised that one of the ornaments, a bunny, was missing from the garden. Someone bought it for us when we moved into the house in November."

She added: "It could be anyone because so many people walk past our garden and there's always lots of things in it and I Iike changing it around a bit. A lot of people comment on the garden."

The latest postcard from Hollywood said: "Met my idol Bugs Bunny today outside the MAN Chinese Theatre. I've left my prints but can't decide whether to come home or stay but running out of money so may see you sooner than planned."

The first one two weeks ago said: "Sick of life in the garden, off to see the world."

One by one the postcards arrived and the family are eagerly awaiting their next one.

Jean said: "The last postcard said he could be home soon but it will be a shame when it ends.

"It will have to end some time though because the bunny was a present from our friends and we will eventually want it back."
