Centurions 78 Dewsbury Rams 18 by Mike Hulme: THE Centurions and Salford City Reds will slug it out next weekend for the honour of the National League One Minor Premiership.

Leigh's runaway 14-try win over bottom club Dewsbury and Salford's equally impressive success over third placed Rochdale, means only the Centurions and Salford can finish the regular season in top spot.

Salford head the table on points difference but Leigh did their cause no harm with Sunday's big win which confirmed Dewsbury's relegation to National League Two.

Leigh's win was confortable enough in the end, but for the majority of the first period they misfired both in attack and defence. When Dewsbury had them pegged to 12-12 after 20 minutes, Leigh's chances of a landslide win were remote.

But after the break they moved up several gears and scored nine of their tries after the break - three of them from outstanding hooker Paul Rowley.

Early Leigh tries from Danny Halliwell and Willie Swann were quickly cancelled out by Jim Elston and Anthony Thewliss as the basement club caught the home side on the hop.

Slowly Leigh began to put their game together and by half time they had built up a 28-12 lead with tries from Damian Munro, Tommy Martyn and Dale Holdstock.

After the break it was all one-way traffic as Leigh rattled up the points at better than one a minute.

Dale Cardoza crossed twice, Rowley picked up his treble, points machine Neil Turley added tries 101 and 102 to his growing tally, Munro collected his 30th of the season and sub Lee Sanderson rounded it all off with a 40-metre solo effort.

Turley finished the match with 30 points, adding 11 goals from 14 shots to his two tries.
