A MAJORITY of child car safety seats were found to be defective when a check was carried out in Bolton.
Of the 33 seats checked in Boots car park at Middlebrook, only 27 per cent were found to be correctly fitted. Some 52 per cent of seats had to have minor adjustments made and 12 per cent had to have major adjustments, said nappy firm Pampers who carried out the nationwide car safety initiative.
Two of the car seats checked were found to be incompatible with the make of car and one car seat was condemned.
Nappy firm Pampers launched the nationwide car safety initiative following the number of incorrectly-fitted car seats discovered during a similar activity last year.
