REGARDING the letter from Prentice Howarth, "Council takes its planning seriously".

All very well talking like that, but certain applications have, unfortunately, been successfully sneaked through before the UDP was reviewed.

The council, and especially the planning committee, have never been our friends, and aren't ever likely to be.

Just because Fish Fold has had outline planning permision granted 10 years ago, that doesn't mean that it should have been surrendered so easily.

It's rich to call the development "Daisy Meadow". I shudder to think what wildlife destruction and pollution this will cause. Also we have lorries turning from and to the site spilling caked mud on to Park Road. This is a recipe for an accident, come heavy rains.

We had a site inspection early last year and Bob Howarth clearly stated that the site was of natural beauty, giving good vibes. The Public Inquiry was supposedly won on February 7, 2002, making us very happy.

I put the question, would Cllr Prentice Howarth have given the casting vote had she lived opposite or near the site?

To think that a war was fought for the likes of them, and the planning committee, to surrender what was fought for.

B Howarth
