A FORMER Popstars contestant who has formed a new band says she wants a long-lasting career -- not just a couple of number one hits.

Lynsey Brown, from Little Hulton, has formed the group with three fellow contestants from ITV's Popstars: The Rivals.

But the 20-year-old has rejected comparisons between her group and Popstars winners Girls Aloud.

She said: "The only thing we have in common with Girls Aloud is that we were both on TV."

The new group, called Clea, is named after the first letter of each member's name -- Chloe, Lynsey, Emma and Aimee. It was created in secrecy a week before the TV show ended.

The quartet are following the trend set by the first Popstars runners-up Liberty X, a group which has lasted far longer than winners Hear'Say.

Lynsey said: "We don't just want a couple of number ones and then fade away. I'm 20 years old now and would like to think I have a long career ahead of me. That can only be achieved by building up a proper fan base."

She said the girls have had photoshoots with Smash Hits magazine and their sexy video -- filmed in Vancouver, Canada -- will be shown on Top of the Pops before the debut single, Download It, is released on September 15.

But Lynsey said: "If we have to reinvent ourselves at times then we will. At the moment we are having fun with things like Smash Hits but in six months time, who knows?

"We would certainly not turn down photo shoots for lad magazines like FHM. You've got to play on your sexuality in the music business."
