A FORMER postman died after stabbing himself in the neck with a kitchen knife, an inquest was told.
Thomas Proudman, aged 62, of Westminster Road, Shsarples, committed suicide in his home following a spiral of depression caused by a broken bone in his foot that that forced him to give up work.
The Bolton inquest heard that Mr Proudman, who had worked as a postman in Bolton for 40 years, became upset after the accident last October.
His wife Joan said she could not understand why her husband had become so depressed.
Bolton Coroner Jennifer Leeming recorded a verdict of suicide.
