GIFTED Bury youngster Lucy Vallis is celebrating after securing a place at Manchester's prestigious Chetham's School of music.
Lucy, aged eight, from Elton, who sings and plays the violin and piano, will start at the school in September after successfully passing three auditions.
She will leave classmates at St Bernadette's Primary school in Whitefield to concentrate on her musical talent at Chetham's, which attracts students from all over the world.
She will have to attend the school, on Long Millgate, in Manchester city centre, full time for five days a week and for three weekends of every month.
Her mum Jane, aged 34, says Lucy will enjoy being around music every day. She said: "Lucy cannot wait. She isn't bothered about the hours because she loves music."
The musical youngster, from Elton Brook Close, who began playing instruments at the age of five, was inspired by her mother, who plays piano and is a music teacher herself.
