THE Marco Players will leave the audience in suspense, literally, after the first night of its next production The Revengers' Comedies.

For at the end of the Alan Ayckbourn play, the audience will have to return the next night to find out what happens!

It is the first time the Players have extended a run to a full week. But the play demands it.

While Part One is a cliffhanger, Part Two has an unexpected denouement. And it is a challenging play for the cast of 14 actors who have to play 23 characters. It is loosely-styled after Ayckbourn's favourite film, Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train." In 1989, Ayckbourn reached his half-century and decided to indulge himself with a little birthday present -- this mammoth, two-part, five-hour long production.

It is a story of swapped revengers which is rich, black, vintage Ayckbourn laced with mayhem.

The ambitious production by the Marco Players started with rehearsals in April.

The cast is made up of seven men and seven women: Peter Haslam, Natalie Kirkbright, Liz Ritson, John O'Connell, Jason Crompton, Alan Macpherson, Irene Smith, Edwinda Freeman, Mark Roberts, Gail Roberts, Robin Thompson, Sharon Shaw, Alison Partington and David Holt.

The play starts on Saturday, June 14, when the audience can catch both parts at 4pm and 7.30pm.

On Tuesday, June 17, Part one is at 7.30pm. Part Two follows on Wednesday, June 18 at 7.30pm. On Thursday, June 19, it is Part One again at 7.30pm followed by part Two on Friday, June 20, at 7.30pm. On Saturday, June 21, audiences can catch both parts at 4pm and at 7.30pm.

On double performances there will be an interval of one hour when a theatre supper will be served which is included in the ticket price.

Tickets cost £5 for adults, £4 for concession for all performances. The ticket is for both parts of the play.
