Wanderers could be ready to start talking to two recently crowned league champions.

Arthur Numan and Stylianos Giannakopoulos won their national league titles with Rangers and Olympiakos on Sunday but are ready to forego next season's Champions League to play in the Premiership - possibly with Wanderers.

Reebok boss Sam Allardyce has admitted an interest in midfielder Giannakopoulos and Numan's agent Juup Korevaar has revealed Wanderers are at the head of the queue to sign the 33-year-old former World Cup star.

No business could be done on any potential deals until the two players' clubs had played their final games of the season.

Numan and Giannakopoulos had a similar weekend as both their clubs went into the final game level on points with their great rivals Celtic and Panathinaikos and both had big wins to clinch the titles by the narrowest of margins.

Now both are looking for new clubs as Numan is not prepared to accept the contract offered by Ibrox and 28-year-old Giannakopoulos wants to play in the Premiership despite the incentive of Champions League football and a pay rise if he stays at Olympiakos.

According to Korevaar, Wanderers will face competition for Numan from his old club PSV Eindhoven and others if they pursue interest in his player but he adds Wanderers can give him the Premiership football he would prefer.

Giannakopoulos is a goalscoring right sided midfielder and the chances of landing him may depend on how successful Wanderers are in landing Bernard Mendy.

Paris St Germain are understood to have reduced their asking price from £4 million to £2.5 million for the 20-year-old Mendy.

Shelling so much out in one go would take too much out of their summer spending budget and whether Wanderers would be prepared to spread such a cost over the length of his contract - as can be done with signings from France - remains to be seen.

Two names high on Allardyce's wanted list are Ivan Campo and Florent Laville, both big hits on loan last season.

Laville is seen as the ideal replacement for the retired Gudni Bergsson while Campo impressed Allardyce with his influence on the team in the second half of the season.

"Ivan was outstanding for us in the latter half of the season," Allardyce said.

"He was responsible for starting most of our forward movement from deep positions.

"He hadn't played any competitive football at Real for more than 12 months when he came here and it took time to get to Premiership fitness."

A possible obstacle could be meeting Campo's wage demands with the former Real player reported to be on £35,000 a week.
