A MAN is due to appear before Bolton magistrates following an attack in Bolton town centre.
Detectives say the 35-year-old victim was attacked early Saturday morning after two groups of men were ejected from a nightclub.
Police said the victim was punched and fell to the floor outside the Dali Bar in Bradshawgate
The victim, who has not been identified but is from the Astley Bridge area of Bolton, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital. He was later transferred to the intensive care unit at Salford's Hope Hospital where he was put on a ventilator.
Today a spokesman at the hospital said he was in a "stable" condition.
Michael Halligan, aged 38, of Fairlea Avenue, Bolton, was due to appear before Bolton magistrates facing three assault charges.
The incident is the latest in a spate of recent attacks on people in Bolton town centre. Last month a woman suffered serious facial injuries when an attacker hit her over the head with a glass bottle in Nelson Square, Bolton.
