CONCERNS have been raised over the delay in producing a traffic calming scheme for a Westhoughton road.
The question of introducing the scheme along Cherwell Road was raised after complaints of speeding traffic.
Residents in the area had demanded a traffic calming scheme in November 2001 when proposals to build houses on the adjacent former rubbish tip were submitted.
Cllr Kieran Tapster highlighted his disquiet at a town council meeting.
He said: "Residents are concerned that the houses will be built and that there will be a long delay in carrying out traffic calming, which will add to the current problems."
A spokesman for Bolton Council said: "The developer has paid a significant contribution to the cost of traffic calming to Bolton Council.
"It will be up to the Highways Department to produce an appropriate scheme."
