SIX games into the season and the tables have really been turned on champions Tonge.

They started Saturday's game third from bottom but finished next to bottom after opponents Farnworth climbed above them after an unlikely draw.

The Farnworth total of 136-8 looked well within Tonge's reach and increasingly so when they needed only four runs to win with eight balls remaining and five wickets in hand.

There seemed little hope for Farnworth but, incredibly, batsmen Nigel Partington and Paul Burton not only failed to score a run, they never even got a bat on the ball and Farnworth escaped with the best of a draw.

In the main they were indebted to the bowling of Matt McGuinness and pro Abbas Ali, who despite Rick Northrop's 73, were able to keep a tight rein on the batsmen.

Earlier Neke had scored 58 out of the Farnworth total, the rest falling victims mainly to Tonge pro Adil Nisar, who finished with 5-26.

Egerton pro Abdur Rehman produced a fine all-round performance to earn his side their eight wicket win over Astley Bridge.

Batting first, Bridge were soon in trouble against the Pakistan pro and his figures of 4-29 were the main reason Bridge were restricted to 120-8.

Rehman then took charge with the bat to hit a deserved half century, Gary Garner not far behind him on 42 not out as Egerton coasted to their win.
