MORE than 250 young people believed to be skipping school have been stopped and questioned over the last three weeks by education welfare officers and police officers.
Education officials have been working with police officers from Greater Manchester Police conducting truancy sweeps as part of a national short term campaign to round up truants.
In Manchester six sweeps have been held during the last three weeks in different parts of the city and the city centre.
