RAMSBOTTOM A sealed the Premier Division title for the third consecutive season, finishing well ahead of closest rivals Farnworth and Hilton Tameside.

Nomads A are the winners of Division One, with Carlton in their first season in the League finishing second.

Little Lever C are Division Two champions with Meadow Hill A taking the Third Division. Hilton J are the winners of Division Four.

Hilton Tameside beat Ramsbottom B 5-3 in the Warburton Cup final. The game was played from scratch with two wins apiece for Phil Biggs and Paul Collins plus one by Jeff Craighill.

Wharton A won the Brian Gittins Cup with a 5-1 walloping of Ramsbottom A.

The six points start received by Wharton was just enough to help them retain the cup.

Four of the six sets played were decided on the third game, but Wharton were four sets in front before the Rammy team recorded their only win.

Bob Jackson and Barry Elliot won two sets and Glen Payne one for the winners.

In the George Yates Shield final Ladybridge C won 5-1 against Heaton C. Heaton won the first set thanks to Andy Riley but Ladybridge won the rest.

Two wins each for Brian Greenhalgh and John Birchall plus one by Mike Smith for the winners.

The Ron Hindle Memorial Trophy for Divison Four teams was won by 5-3 by the Heaton F team of Dave Bevitt, Mark Greenhalgh and Colin Roberts over Jubilee.

The finals of the Bolton Closed Championships will be held at the Hilton Centre on Wednesday, April 16, starting at 7.30pm, which will be followed by the presentation of all of the league and cup trophies.

Winners are requested to attend.

Issues in the league programme have been decided, although five results remain outstanding.
