OCCUPANTS of a block of flats in Astley Village had to be evacuated when arsonists set fire to a wheelie bin.
The fire spread to a staircase leading to the apartments, on Clough Acre, early on Saturday day. The fire destroyed the staircase and caused widespread panic among residents who were forced to flee the building.
