A DRIVER arrested after a Bolton man travelling in his car died from a head injury following a road traffic accident is to face further questioning.

The man, from Nelson, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving last month after Mohammeed Asghar was found in a remote lay-by.

The 55-year-old was discovered in the front passenger seat of a Toyota Corolla parked on the A56 at Hapton, near Burnley, on Sunday March 30 .

A post mortem examination found he had died from a head injury.

Police believe Mr Ashgar was a passenger in the car which had been involved in a collision with the roundabout at the slip road off junction nine of the M65 westbound the previous evening.

Following the accident, the vehicle then pulled into the lay-by and parked up for several hours.

Police say the driver claims he fell asleep and when he woke up on Sunday, he found Mr Ashgar dead.

He tried to resuscitate him along with other motorists who had stopped to help but he was pronounced dead by paramedics at about 2.30pm.

The driver is due to answer his bail on April 28 and is expected to be interviewed again by detectives.
