The world premiere production of Salman Rushdie's new play Midnight's Children, which comes to The Lowry from June 3 to 7.
Rushdie's Booker prize winning classic story of the magic, myth making and mischief of modern India is brought to the stage for the first time by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
And the action is not going to be strictly confined to the stage. The Lowry will be using its dramatic surroundings with a tent on the Plaza for the drama Ladyboys of Bangkok, and a boat will be moored on the Ship Canal for a family version of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea.
Comedy nights at The Lowry will include Julian Clary, Harry Hill and John Shuttleworth, while music will be diverse ranging from Dionne Warwick to Fairport Convention.
Opera North productions will include Puccini's Tosca and Mozart's The Magic Flute.
