AN elderly woman believes she is being treated unfairly by the NHS over treatment for her blindness.

Grandmother Doris Jackson from Blackley has been refused funding for the hi-tech treatment by her primary care trust because they say it may be unsafe.

But the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital says it is safe and will carry out the operations -- so long as she pays.

Doris has spent her life savings on four treatments and cannot afford any more. She says she feels betrayed.
