From the Evening News, April 11, 1903: EDGWORTH, the breezy little moorland village perched high above Turton, was the scene of a large gathering of Congregationalists on the afternoon of Good Friday when the foundation stone of the new Sunday School was laid by Mrs W.H. The site for the new school has been given by Mr J.R. Barlow, and is in a central position, not far from the Congregational Church.

The outlay is expected to run to £1,700, and towards this the very gratifying sum of about £1,200 has been raised.
