HERE'S a starry cast for Harold Brighouse's classic comedyHobson's Choice at the Royal Exchange Theatre next month.

Three of the country's best-known television and stage actors -- Trevor Peacock, John Thomson and Joanna Riding -- take the lead roles.

Hobson's Choice tells the story of Henry Horatio Hobson, a man with three daughters and a fondness for the Moonraker's Inn. Maggie Hobson, his eldest daughter, has a head for business and won't take any nonsense, especially from her father. When Maggie makes an unusual partnership with lowly bookmaker Willie Mossop, sparks fly.

Trevor Peacock, well known to television audiences as Jim Trott in The Vicar of Dibley, plays Hobson. He has had a long association with the Exchange and was part of the opening season which included Harold Brighouse's Zack.

Playing Willie Mossop is John Thomson, well known for his roles in television's Cold Feet and Stan the Man. John last appeared at the Royal Exchange in 1996 in a production of The Rivals.

Joanna Riding plays Maggie. She is the winner of this year's Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady at the Theatre Royal (a National Theatre production). Royal Exchange Artist Director, Braham Murray, is directing the play.

Hobson's Choice runs from May 13 to June 28. Tickets from: 0161 833 9833.
