POP Idol runner-up Gareth Gates could be championing a new Bolton-based charity.
The spikey-haired singer, who has problems with a stutter, has been approached by registered charity Stars for the Millennium, which aims to help children with behavioural problems by teaching them how to sing.
Started by Farnworth singing teacher Jean Pasquill, who runs Melody Pop Tuition, the charity hopes to attract 700 children a year to its new school in St George's Road, Bolton.
Jean said: "We hope Gareth comes on board as patron. He knows what it is like living with a disability, and we think this charity will make a difference to people's lives."
