IT'S all very nice to see the gentle pictures of Sandra Lennon with her baby Joshua but I still think anyone having a baby at 57 is bonkers.

There are some circumstances in which it might be more generally acceptable. A mother having a baby for a daughter unable to conceive, for example, would be one.

Sandra Lennon may understandably want a child with new husband Michael, 47. But there is no getting away from the fact that when Joshua is going through a rebellious stage at 16, she'll be 74.

What really irritates me -- and possibly millions of other viewers -- is that the BBC helped foot the bill for IVF because they were filming the treatment, pregnancy and birth for a documentary.

If that's how they're going to spend our licence money, I'd like a refund, please.
