WITH reference to the article on fireworks (Bolton Evening News page 17, October 9).

I am in favour of a complete fireworks ban and also believe that Trading Standards should apply the law more strictly.

In Heywood Park in Great Lever, children and teenagers have been setting off fireworks for the last three weeks. I walked in the park today and found that the four dog litter bins had been vandalised since yesterday. This must have been the reason for the earth-shattering explosions last night in the park, and the heaps of burnt rubble under each bin today. As I write (at 3.50pm) the fireworks are already in full swing.

You state in your article that only 11 of the 106 shops visited are selling to children. Well, all I can say is that they are obviously doing a roaring trade. More power to Bolton North-east MP David Crausby.
