OUTSTANDING GCSE results at two Bolton comprehensives have won the schools a place in the country's top 500.
Canon Slade School and Turton High School were included in a league table compiled by a national newspaper.
At Canon Slade, in Bradshaw, 80.89 per cent of pupils achieved at least five grade A*- Cs and 27.5 per cent of all grades were A* or A .
Turton High School notched up 58 per cent of pupils gaining at least five grade A*- Cs, and 14.5 per cent of all grades were A* or A grades.
Pupils at Canon Slade achieved the school's best ever set of exam results.
Staff were thrilled after two students achieved a clean sweep of A* grades and the top 10 pupils amassed 84 A* grades, 14 A grades and 1 B grade between them.
Head Peter Shepherd said: "This just keeps getting better and better.
"Last week's 'A' Level results were fantastic and this week's GCSEs have broken all school records. The staff and students have worked tremendously hard to achieve these results and they all deserve every minute of their success."
