Walkden took their score to 145-4 with 10 overs left in their continuing Hamer Cup semi-final against Westhoughton last night.
They started the night on 29-0 and although Westhoughton made an early breakthrough, a partnership between pro Douglas Watson and Andy Ingram of 64 for the fourth wicket put the home side in with a good chance of taking the score up to the 200 mark.
Although Ingram was finally dismissed for 31, South African Watson is still at the crease unbeaten on 69.
However, Walkden have effectively lost an extra wicket as John Smith, who opened the innings, is not available in midweek and had to retire.
There was no play in the other delayed semi-final between Kearsley and Greenmount but that, along with the Walkden game, will hopefully continue tonight.
