REGULARS at a Horwich pub were raising their glasses during today's cycling road race.

But the Commonwealth Games cheer was not for England -- they were gunning for Wales instead.

Cyclist James Griffiths, who was competing in the final Games bike race, is the godson of Squirrel landlord Trevor Millington.

In fact, if anybody wanted a drink at the pub on Bolton Road, Horwich, Trevor joked that they would have to cheer the Welsh rider.

So far, the landlord has had a mixed Games. Saturday's time trial drew around 15,000 spectators, which meant his 31-strong staff -- up from the usual seven -- were not as busy as he had hoped.

But on Monday, when 50,000 swarmed into Rivington for the mountain biking, his pub was packed to the rafters.

Trevor said: "It's fantastic that the race has come to Horwich. I think everyone should get behind it this week."
