AN 18-month-old child was being treated in hospital following an incident in which a woman was stabbed, police said.
Officers were called to a house in the Norley Hall area of Wigan, Lancashire, in the early hours.
They found a woman had been stabbed and an 18-month-old child had a cut on its head.
The child is now being treated for its injuries at Alder Hey Children's Hospital on Merseyside.
The woman is in a stable condition in Wigan's Royal Albert Edward Infirmary.
Greater Manchester Police said an investigation was under way but have not yet released further details about the stabbing.
