FREDI Bobic has not given up hope of booking a return ticket to the Reebok.

The former German international striker, who revelled in his loan spell with Wanderers last season, has returned to Borussia Dortmund but with little chance of getting back in favour.

The German champions had hoped to cash in on Bobic but, to date, no-one has been prepared to match their £2 million asking price and they are believed to be ready to re-assess their position.

Bobic, whose hat-trick against Ipswich in April went a long way to helping Wanderers retain their Premiership status, made a big impression on Sam Allardyce with his hard work and intelligent forward play and the admiration was mutual.

He has spoken affectionately of Wanderers, regretting the fact that Dortmund's valuation prevented him extending his stay beyond his 14-match loan. But he has told friends that he has not ruled out returning to Bolton.

Allardyce, whose current priority is to lure Real Madrid centre-back Ivan Campo to the Reebok, is also scouring the markets for a striker to beef up his strikeforce before the August 31 transfer deadline. He has a reputation for hard-bargaining and it would be no surprise if he used his famous powers of persuasion to prise Bobic away at a bargain price.
