A MAN who assaulted his ex-partner has escaped a custodial sentence.
A court was told that Andrew Mark Christy, aged 23, had been drinking and went to the home of his ex-partner Alison Wyke.
Miss Wyke sustained substantial bruising after the attack which took place at her home at Lower Ince near Wigan.
Christy, of Yewdale Avenue, Breightmet, appeared for sentence at Wigan magistrates court for an offence of assaulting Miss Wyke on April 7 occasioning her actual bodily harm.
The court heard that Miss Wyke suffered swelling to her ear, eyebrow, a cut eyelid, bruising to her jaw and also swelling to her right hand and wrist.
Christy was sentenced to an 80-hour community punishment order and a 12-month rehabilitation order. He was also made the subject of a curfew order for six months and ordered to pay £250 compensation and £160 costs.
