A TIMBER fire left the skies above Farnworth full of thick black smoke early today.
Neighbours near a scrapyard in Egerton Street called the fire brigade fearing cars had been set alight, but when fire crews arrived just after 7am they found a large stack of timber burning which they brought under control.
