TIGER WOODS

YOU would be a fool not to back him. He has got to be favourite because he has the tools and mental capacity.

SERGIO GARCIA

HE is my tip after Woods for the simple reason he is a great driver of the ball. He is very much on top of his game and is getting more experience all the time. He is going to win a major it's just a case of when.

VIJAY SINGH

I fancy him to do well again. He is always there in the Open and playing well at the moment.

DAVID DUVAL

HAS shown no form at all this year but could come back. The fact that he is defending his title will inspire him.

NICLAS FASTH

THE Swede played well and got beaten in a play-off for the European Open a fortnight ago he has shown some form and is in the Ryder Cup team.

Played well last year when he finished runner-up. He can play links golf and has a great temperament. Tenacious competitor who doesn't look that exciting to watch but I fancy him for a place.

ERNIE ELS

HE is playing well and finished strongly in the Masters. This is a golf course that suits his style of play.

ANGEL CABRERA

HE is my long shot. He may be the outsider but has the all the shots and is not frightened of winning given the opportunity.

NICK FALDO

I definitely fancy him for a top four finish. He played well in the Masters and the US Open on a course that didn't suit his game at all. He feels he can win again.

DARREN CLARKE

HE has played reasonably well just recently and challenged in the last two Opens and has got to be the best chance from the UK.

COLIN MONTGOMERIE

IF he is playing well enough you have to fancy him although when he has played there in the past he has not played that well.
