PHIL Brown has revealed that Bolton's summer shopping spree may not have come to an end with the signing of Bernard Mendy on a year's loan.

The arrival of the Paris St Germain full-back is the fifth of the summer, after Jay-Jay Okocha, Bulent Akin and Delroy Facey, while Youri Djorkaeff has signed on a permanent basis.

Although transfer activity in the Premiership during the close-season has not been as frantic as usual, the Wanderers coach believes that there may still be further recruits.

"There are still more on the horizon," says Brown. "We have earmarked certain positions in the pre-season, and perhaps fulfilled three or four of those.

"We have also brought in a couple for the future.

"We don't intend stopping because there are still one or two places yet to fill."

So far Wanderers have yet to spend a penny in actual transfer fees - although they will have to pay compensation to Huddersfield Town for Facey after going to a tribunal - and Brown believes that further captures will follow the trend Sam Allardyce has adopted since promotion last year.

He continues: "The manager has set a precedent for the whole Premier League with his use of year loans and free transfers.

"So even if it is a terrible season and you do go down you don't have that burden of excess wages.

"I think he's done it right. If we can make it four or five seasons in the Premiership you will maybe see longer contracts.

"But at this moment in time we're happy with the way things are going."

"There are one or two potentials that we have signed as well."
