MY article on a local firm which made cricket bats seems to have aroused a lot of interest.
Mrs Jean Salter, of Salter Sports, on Higher Market Street, Farnworth, writes to tell me that she well remembers Windett's shop and Albert Ward's sports outfitters co-existing together for a good number of years - one on each side of Bradshawgate. "Albert Ward's, on closing, moved into a section of Whitaker's department store on Deansgate - or so I was told," she writes.
