It was, in fact, Harwood-Bradshaw, and it told an amazing story of progress and development. Only a few years before, this view was only a planners' dream. Only Longsight and surrounding old property - running from left to right across the top of the picture - remained. In the centre stood the Harwood shopping precinct, and in the top right the three new schools, St. Brendan's Roman Catholic, Turton Harwood County Junior, and the Turton Harwood Methodist Infants.

The open fields in the bottom corner were to become part of the massive Longsight Park scheme.
