FORMER Wanderers favourite David Felgate will be out to stop Jay Jay Okocha tomorrow night as Sam Allardyce takes a full squad to Radcliffe Borough.

Bolton are expected to field all three of their close season signings, Okocha, Delroy Facey and Bulent Akin as they kick off their pre-season fixtures at Stainton Park.

And that could herald a torrid time for the 42-year-old Welsh shotstopper, who made 300 appearances for the Whites from 1987-93 before enjoying spells with Chester, Wigan and, most recently, Leigh RMI.

"We bought David from Leigh as cover for Danny Hurst but I'll make sure he gets a run out against Bolton," said Radcliffe manager Kevin Glendon, who is relishing getting another crack at the Premiership outfit after pushing them hard in a 3-1 defeat last year.

"I'm just delighted that, over the past two years, Sam has not forgotten his roots and the level of football where he launched his career.

"For a Premiership club to bring the whole first team down to play a non-league team is a fabulous gesture and could raise enough cash to see us through about a third of next season."

Despite his great respect for Bolton's international stars, Glendon insists the clash will prove a worthy test for Wanderers, who returned from their training trip to Poland yesterday.

"All our players have been talking about the game for ages and everyone's really excited about taking on Okocha and Michael Ricketts," he said.

"But we will certainly give them a game and play in the right manner. There will be lads in our team who want to show everyone that they can play a bit, so they will be going all out to win.

"Last year we gave them a bit of a shock by scoring the first goal and really made it tough for them, so we will be hoping for more of the same this time.

"I just told them that the quicker they give the ball away, the quicker they will be running around trying to get it back. Against that quality of player, if you give the ball away cheaply, they will give you the runaround.

"To be honest, even if that happens, that will at least improve our fitness levels. One match against Wanderers will be like three training sessions for us."

Boro are certainly taking the fixture seriously, organising a pre-friendly clash with Radcliffe Amateurs by way of a warm-up.

But Glendon said he refused to go to the extent of Allardyce's charges, who endured daily sessions in a Polish deep freeze to help maximise their training potential.

"We haven't resorted to that but I think the game will be so tough that we'll have to put a few players in the fridge to cool them down afterwards," he said.
