THE retiring Mayor of Blackrod, Cllr Pat Barrow, presented a cheque for £2,500 to members of Derian House, the Bolton support group.
The money was raised during Cllr Barrow's year of office as one of her chosen charities. Various events were held, including a candlelight cabaret dinner, prize bingos and a Jubilee Ball at Blackrod Community Centre. The total amount raised was £3,200.
The other charities to benefit from the fund-raising were Blackrod Welfare Committee, which received £600, and Blackrod Over-60s, which was given £100.
The retiring mayor thanked everyone for helping and being so generous in their support.
