WANDERERS are still locked in talks with Taribo West with a bid to bringing the Nigerian World Cup ace to the Reebok Stadium.

Both sides have been in talks since Saturday, and it is hoped that a deal will have been struck by the end of today.

After being released by Kaiserslautern, 28-year-old West is now a free agent, but will be demanding high wages after spells with Italian giants Inter and AC Milan.

The skilful defender, who was impressive during a loan period with Derby County two seasons ago and has 40 international caps, would be further evidence of Sam Allardyce's commitment to bringing quality to Bolton.

Allardyce said: "We are in talks with Taribo West's representatives regarding a possible move to the Reebok Stadium.

"Taribo is a quality player with a great deal of experience. He is a player that I would like to have in my squad."

Alongside his experience, West would undoubtedly bring flamboyance to the Reebok, as he is famed for his outrageous haircuts.

West would join fellow countryman Jay Jay Okocha at Bolton, and it has also been reported that Allardyce has been in contact with another Nigerian, the Everton target Joseph Yobo.
