THE Bolton League have brought in two new caps for the MEN inter-league sem-final against the Central Lancashire League at Milnrow on Sunday..

Although the selectors have named a squad of 12 and will only confirm the final selection this week, they are ready to give a chance to Horwich's Andy Taylor and Astley Bridge's Paul Stafford.

Both are having fine seasons, notably Taylor, who has been instrumental in Horwich's domination of the first half of the season with a number of impressive bowling performances.

The fact that Taylor is a left hand spinner also means he can make up a left hand-right hand combination with Walkden's Matt Parkinson which will mean further options in the bowling line-up.

Stafford could get his chance to open the innings. He will be used in a pinch-hitting role, although this would probably be determined by the state of the game.

Another major change is the choice of captain. Tim Barry, who led the side against the Lancashire County League, is on holiday so David Morris takes over.

The selectors have also been able to bring in players from Tonge after they were not considered for the first round game because of involvement in the club knockout.

That means that Rick Northrop is available to open the innings while Ian Taylor assumes his usual pace partnership with Greenmount's Mark Stewart.

The squad is:

David Morris, capt, (Bradshaw), Paul Rayment (Little Lever), Mark Stewart (Greenmount), Steve Parker (Westhoughton), Rick Northrop (Tonge), Ian Taylor (Tonge), Andy Taylor (Horwich), Chris Evans (Bradshaw), Phil Ingram (Walkden), Matt Parkinson (Walkden), Jon Fearick (Heaton), Paul Stafford (Astley Bridge).
