THOUSANDS of voices will be singing from the same hymn sheet on Sunday when the BBC comes to town to record a special Songs of Praise - Commonwealth Praise - to kick off the Commonwealth Games.

With all the tickets sold for the seating area, it will be literally standing room only for the recording in Victoria Square.

And as 300 schoolchildren perform on the Town Hall steps, thousands in the congregation will be invited to join in the hymns.

And the Bolton Evening News is reproducing the running order of the programme, and the words of the hymns so you can take a copy of the paper with you to join in.

Bolton's own Rev Phil Mason will be hosting the show along with regular Songs of Praise presenter Pam Rhodes. One of the guests will be international athlete Diane Modhal.

All the favourite hymns are included on the songsheet including Shine Jesus Shine and Thine Be the Glory.

The three hour spectacular will also feature Smithills School Brass Band and Osagyefo, an African drums and dance group.

Nigel Swinford from Bromley Cross, will be conducting.

The finished programme will be shown on BBC1 on Sunday, July 21 -- four days before the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony at the City of Manchester Stadium on July 25.

The event begins at 3pm but people are advised to start arriving from 1pm.

The Octagon Car Park will be open from 10am to 6pm; Bow Street from 1pm until 6pm and the Market Place Car park from 10am to 6pm by special arrangement with APCOA Parking (UK) Ltd.
