PEOPLE in Horwich will soon be able to see a big improvement in their public toilets.
The Captain Street loos are to be power-washed, refitted and repainted over the next three weeks, thanks to money made available from Bolton Council.
The new-look conveniences, which include disabled toilets, will close from today and are due to reopen on Friday, July 26.
As well as the internal revamping, outside improvements are to be carried out to improve the toilets' appearance.
Cllr Guy Harkin, Bolton Council's executive member for the environment, said: "This is a positive move by the council. We recognise the need for cleanliness and are striving to improve public toilet facilities in the town."
The money for the scheme is coming from District Centres Improvement Fund, which was set up this year to improve the appearance of the four district towns in the borough -- Farnworth, Horwich, Little Lever and Westhoughton.
The money will be spent on problems such as eyesore areas, graffiti and chewing gum on pavements.
