UNION leaders representing Greater Manchester firefighters will discuss the brigade's £30,000 a year pay demands at a meeting next week.
Crews and support staff are threatening to go on strike for the first time since 1977 unless their demands are met.
The meeting comes after members of the Fire Brigades Union voted to support a bid to boost the qualified firefighter's wage from £21,531 to £30,000. The FBU said it was determined to achieve the settlement by November.
The meeting on Monday at the Methodist Central Hall in Oldham, Street, Manchester, will inform union members of the current position and will be attended by Andy Gilchrist, general secretary of the FBU, and president Mick Harper.
