IN your article "MPs unite against euthanasia plan", Saturday, June 15, local MPs David Crausby and Dr Brian Iddon state their support for a petition organised by the religious "Right to Life" organisation.

This m isleading petition describes my wife, Diane's, death as peaceful and painless, when it was neither.

In the days leading up to her death, Diane endured breathing difficulties, pain and distress. She wanted medical help to die with dignity, but the courts said no.

After everything Diane and I went through, I do find it upsetting that neither David Crausby nor Dr Brian Iddon spoke or wrote to me first to find out the facts. I even went to the House of Commons last week to explain why Diane felt the way she did, and what she went through, but they did not come to listen and only have one side of the story.

Not only do they not know the facts, but they are not representing their constituents' views.

Hundreds of local people have been to Diane's website -- www.Justice4Diane.org.uk and supported her petition calling on the Government to introduce a compassionate law. Nationally every opinion poll in the last 10 years has shown over 80 per cent of people think terminally ill adults like Diane should have the right to choose medical help to die with dignity.
