ATHERTON stormed through to the semi-finals of the Cross Cup with a resounding 117-run victory over Spring View.
Paul Walsh smashed 79 and Paul Brown 54 to lead their side towards 252-9, Tony Kelly taking 4-32 and it was too much for View who were all out for 135.
Walsh completed an excellent individual performance, which was being replayed because of a tie in the original game, by taking 5-41.
A batting collapse saw Adlington crash out of the Lancashire Knockout at the hands of Chorley. Chasing 150-6, Duncan McNally taking 3-26, the Association side was looking good until the second wicket went down with 66 on the board.
But after openers Andrew Robinson, 38, and Darryl Hitchen, 22, they had nobody who could stay at the crease and they finished on 101-9.
Adlington had not helped their cause earlier by bowling a massive 24 wides. Chorley actually scored 164 but the target was reduced due to rain.
