REVELLERS danced the night away at a summer ball for a cause close to their hearts.

Horwich Rotary Club will donate all the proceeds from its summer ball, which took place on Saturday, to the Bolton Coronary Care Appeal.

Generous Bolton firms paid up to £1,500 for a table of 10 people at the event at Rivington Barn which included a charity auction.

There was a champagne reception accompanied by the Adlington and Rivington Band and a Warrington-based band was also on hand to provide music into the early hours.

Items in the raffle, including a Bolton Wanderers shirt signed by all the players sold well and it is hoped that the event will have raised about £4,000 for the appeal, which is being supported by the Bolton Evening News.

The three main sponsors were MGH Group, who paid £1,500 for a table of 10, Ciceley dealership in the town centre and Gosome Electrical Contracts.

Club member Peter Fletcher came up with the idea for the fundraising summer ball after going to a similar event in Staffordshire. He said: "We already had this date set for an event and then the Coronary Care Appeal came up and it was such a good cause that we decided to go corporate.

"We decided to offer tables to Bolton businesses and we were very pleased with the response. Everyone had a fantastic night, the champagne reception outside with the band playing was a particular highlight.

"The final total raised should be totted up in the next few days and hopefully it will be a substantial amount for the cause."
