POLICE closed the northbound M6 near the junction with the M62 today after a fatal 11 vehcile pile up.
One person was killed and another seriously hurt in the accident just before 8am, resulting in several miles of standing traffic on the carriageway and slow moving traffic on the southbound carriageway.
