ICOME from Bolton, but have visited the town only infrequently over the past 40 years, but recently had occasion to make a brief visit.
As I had many happy memories of the place, I first visited Moss Bank Park. It was even better than I remembered. Lots of folk enjoying themselves, the playground most imaginative with inviting seats and picnic tables. The Animal World is wonderful -- I loved seeing the free-flying butterflies.
But one thing spoilt an otherwise enjoyable visit. I was looking forward to seeing the Rock Garden in Moss Bank Park, but found that it appeared to be abandoned, with the central pond dry, the upper ponds covered with duck-weed and rubbish, and all overgrown. Why, oh why, has this happened? Has someone lost pride in the place? Aren't there any voluntary groups or children who could give it a clean-up and face lift? I do hope that it can be restored to its former glory.
